As I mentioned in my previous post, I haven't always been a morning person. In fact, I had to learn how to become a morning person and I have to say it was worth it! So in today's post, I will share some useful tips how you can become an early bird. I encourage you to try this because it really changed my perspective to waking up in the mornings and specifically my mornings have become better and now I even look forward to waking up in the mornings!
How to become an early bird:
- It's all about preparation in the previous evening: if you want to train first thing in the morning, search your workout clothes and place them before the door, pack your snacks (snack ideas), find your daily clothes and most importantly go to bed at a reasonable time (9-10 pm).
- Create a night time schedule. Relax yourself in the evenings: read a book, drink caffeine free tea, stretch or watch TV. Don't stay up too late and leave your phone in the living room.
- Listening to inspiring and energetic music first thing in the morning can make a huge difference into your day. You wake up happy and you stay happy throughout the day!
- Wake up to natural sun light or to a wake up light. This is my on the buy list. But as my son still sleeps in the same room with me, it's difficult to use this since I don't want him to wake up before 6 am.. Read more experiences on wake up light here.
- Do something positive and productive in the morning. Write a gratitude journal (more in here), read an interesting article or enjoy your breakfast or a cup of tea/coffee at peace. It is important to do something that really inspires you or motivates you to wake up early. It can be a workout, spend some me time in peace, stretch, work on your personal development.
- Work out the first thing in the morning. It can be just a short workout. The main thing is that your body will start its day with a movement. After a long night of sleep your body is very stiff. Do what suits for you. Try yoga, stretching, or if you are into running or weight lifting do a short run outside or body weight workout at home.
