Recovery smoothie: berries, kale, banana, sunflower seeds, protein powder
As I mentioned before, it has been a month since I got sick. I have to admit that, for me not being able to workout for WHOLE month, has been a struggle. But as my lungs improved and I was able to breathe normally, I decide that I would not give into darkness. Instead, I decided to think only positively. Because this condition that I am in now, won´t last long. Soon I will be able to walk, then do some yoga, then do some bodyweight training, then go for a quick run and finally be able to play football or do BodyCombat. I just have to embrace this situation. This thinking has really improved my rehabilitation (is that a right word for this case?) Well, anyway, here are my tips how to recover from (any) flu or pneumonia.

- Be patient! If you feel like you are ready to go outside and walk a bit, don´t do it! Go back to bed under your covers and rest another day. I cannot highlight this enough. And this was very difficult for me to accept. Your body needs rest. Period.
- Take baby steps. I mean literally. Start with walking around your house. Next day repeat this twice.
- Eat healthy foods. This is basic but so true. Now it's not the time to enjoy processed foods or sugars. Your body needs vitamins and minerals. If you consume too much sugar, you will give the yeast bacteria more energy to grow..
- Take supplements: vitamins D, C and B are very important for your recovery. Also take zinc.
- Take care of your guts. I took probiotics which had 30 billion CFU's and I didn´t suffer from diarrhea.
- Eat easy digestible food, such as vegetable soups and smoothies.
- Drink plenty of liquids. I made my own juices from oranges, ginger, garlic and lemon. My doctor advised me to drink at least 3.5 liter everyday. I also made some juice shots with my juicer: I used ginger, garlic gloves and lemon.
- I also drank garlic ´tea´: I sliced garlic, put in a cup and poured hot water on top. I let it sit for 10 minutes. Believe me or not, but after I drank this I felt better. Maybe it was the placebo effect but I could feel the garlic fighting against all bugs in my body.
- Use/drink Echinacea Purpurea extract. I believe in natural cures and this is he best product which I use whenever I feel like I'm coming down with something!
These were my tips. Also, I added some green powder and collagen to my drinks but I will write a separate post about them.
